Golden Nugget: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Daily Verse: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” —Ephesians 2:10
Daily Message:
Some people believe Jesus is the greatest person who ever lived. Most Christians believe he lived a sinless life, providing the perfect model for us to follow. But is it realistic to think that we could live like him or do the works that he did? Only Jesus can live like Jesus, right?
Living like Jesus is the hardest thing we will ever attempt and, at times, it seems impossible. But today’s verse solves the problem for us. At the moment we decide to become followers of Jesus, we become God’s creative project.
To experience dramatic life changes, we need outside help. God takes the raw material of our lives and slowly begins to change us. Gifts like new values, behaviors, and strength come to us from him.
God has planned in advance for us to follow Jesus and, over time, to become really good at it. But the resources to become that kind of person come only from heaven. We are a project, and God is our project manager!
Consider This:
- What within you do you think needs to change the most?
- What attitudes or concerns are causing you to avoid change?
Take Action:
Who do you know that might have experienced a change similar to what you want? Set a time to talk with them about their experiences.
